Why Coastal Cockapoos?
We are a small hobby breeder, located in Stonington, CT, midway between Boston and New York City. We breed beautiful, healthy, 4th generation Cockapoos, with great dispositions. Our breeding dogs are OFA Certified (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals), to ensure that they do not have defects in their knees. We DNA test our breeding dogs, with the “full Cockapoo panel”, through Paw Print Genetics, to alleviate health concerns. We want you to have a healthy new canine family member for many years, and genetic testing is one way in which we work to deliver that. Working with breeders who genetically test their dogs often means that you will be spending more for your puppy. However, if you look at the long-term expense of owning a healthy dog and compare it to that of a dog who is facing a lifetime of medication and expensive veterinary care, you can appreciate the value of trying to eliminate as many expensive health conditions as possible. In addition to help ensure that we are not breeding puppies who carry breed specific genetic diseases, we are also committed to helping to eradicate genetic diseases in the Cockapoo breed in the larger sense, through careful and very selective breeding. We also offer DNA tests on puppies, when requested, for coat type (at the buyers expense).
At Coastal Cockapoos our dogs are never kept in a kennel. Choosing to buy a puppy from us means that you are getting a puppy who was born and lovingly raised in our home, meticulously cared for and well socialized. Our litters are all whelped in our home and the puppies are exposed to normal household noises daily. By the time you are able to pick up your new puppy, at 8 weeks of age, a significant portion of the early socialization window is over (weeks 4-16), so this early socialization that we provide is very important.
All of our puppies will be vaccinated and vet checked at approximately 6 weeks of age. Each puppy will come with their own records of such. Our puppies are guaranteed to be in good health, free of life-threatening congenital defects. All of our dogs receive NuVet supplements daily, which helps to support their immune system. Should your puppy be diagnosed with a life-threatening congenital disorder within one year (or 2 years if NuVet and high quality food is continued), we will replace the puppy with a new puppy as soon as one becomes available, or refund the purchase price (certain conditions apply, as described in purchase contract).
Our goal is to ensure that every puppy we raise is given the absolute best start in life and the best opportunity possible for a lifetime of health and happiness, when they leave our home to go to yours. As a breeder, who is committed to the well-being of our puppies, you can count on us to be an ongoing resource and source of support.

About Cockapoo Breeding for us
My Father was a hobby breeder. He bred Beagles throughout my childhood years, and later on Irish Setters and Irish Draught horses. I grew up with animals large and small - at all ages and stages of life. Once our three children were grown up and on to their own lives, I knew I wanted to breed Cockapoos. I had admired the breed over the years and appreciated the unique characteristics of Cockapoos. I care deeply about the Cockapoo breed in the larger sense, and take great care with the nutritional, exercise, and health needs of our own dogs, as well as carefully choosing suitable mating partners. Our dogs are an important part of our family and go with us everywhere! They love being a part of our active lifestyle and we love their companionship!
Coastal Cockapoos is based on my husband and I loving life outdoors, particularly on the water, and also our own Cockapoos. This love has lead to the development of Coastal Cockapoos.
