A puppy purchase alternative:
At Coastal Cockapoos we believe that every dog deserves to have a loving, forever home. All of our dogs are part of our family and live in our home rather than kennels. As a way to expand our breeding program, we have decided to offer a Guardian Home Program. A Guardian Home is a permanent home for one of our breeding males or females.
Becoming a Guardian Home gives you the opportunity to have one of our top notch, "Pick of the Litter" puppies as a family pet. Rather than buying this puppy at full price, you would be putting down a $2,000 deposit that would be returned at the end of his/her breeding career. For females you would be agreeing to allow us to breed her up to 4 litters total, or up to the age of 5yo, whichever comes first. If you are a Guardian for one of our females you would be compensated $30 per puppy, when she is returned home after weaning her puppies. If you are a Guardian of a male, you'd be agreeing to allow us to use him for breeding purposes, as needed, depending on our needs, until he is 5yo. Coastal Cockapoos will retain ALL breeding rights. We reserve the right to cancel our guardianship program at anytime if we deem necessary. At the end of the Guardianship Contract, he/she will be neutered/spayed at our expense.
As a Guardian Home you will be required to pay for the everyday expenses of owning a puppy including annual exams, vaccines, food, etc. We will pay for all breeding related costs including health testing.
Becoming a Guardian Home is not for everyone. You MUST be willing and able to follow these requirements:
If you are interested in becoming a Guardian Home for one of puppies, please let us know on your application and we can discuss this option with you further.

Becoming a Guardian Home is not for everyone. You MUST be willing and able to follow these requirements:
- Live within a 2 hour radius of our home.
- Have previous experience with dogs.
- Be willing to teach basic commands such as sit, stay, lay-down, and leave it.
- Be willing to socialize the puppy that you are a guardian for. This is very important!
- He/She must be an indoor pet and never left unattended outside.
- Feed the dog food and vitamins that we recommend.
- Provide regular exercise.
- All other dogs in the home MUST be fixed if they are the opposite sex. If you are the guardian of a male dog, we highly recommend that he is the only dog living in the home, since un-neutered male dogs are prone to dominant behaviors.
- Must not allow he/she to mate with any unapproved dogs.
- Provide veterinary care when needed.
- Send a copy of all vet visits to Breeder.
- Contact Breeder immediately in the event of a serious illness or accident.
- Be able to communicate with us, the breeder, about scheduling testing, mating, whelping, and anything else breeding related.
- If you are a guardian for a female dog, you must be willing to drop her off for 1-2 weeks while she is bred and then pick her up after. Then drop her back off 1 week prior to her whelping date. She will stay with us until the puppies are weaned.
- If you are a guardian for a male dog, you must be willing to drop him off & pick him for 7 days for breedings, which would be 1-3 times per year, depending on our needs, when he is between 1-5 years old.
- You must be willing to agree to not take him/her to dog parks or board him/ her at a kennel during the time period of the Guardianship Contract of 5 years. This is to help prevent a communicable disease that can cause infertility. If you are unable to find someone to care for him/ her while you are away, please contact us.
- Willing to let us, the breeder, visit your home.
