What is your puppy visitation policy?
The health and well being of our puppies is our top priority. Puppies are at very high risk for contracting life threatening diseases before they have been fully vaccinated. To minimize health risks we have a very strict visitation policy. Visits to our home are not permitted for any reason, other than then to pick your puppy up at 8 weeks of age. We know how very exciting it is to get a new puppy. We are more than happy to frequently share photos and videos of our parent dogs and puppies, as well as have FaceTime sessions with our Puppy Families, starting the day they are born and continuing until you pick up your new puppy at 8 weeks of age.
When can my puppy come home?
At 8 weeks of age.
Can you keep my puppy past 8 weeks?
We feel that it is in the best interest of the puppies to go to their forever homes at 8 weeks of age. If for some reason that is not possible, there will be an additional charge of $100 per night. There may be circumstances where I am not able to keep any puppies past 8 weeks of age. All puppies must be picked up by 9 weeks of age.
Do you deliver/ ship puppies?
Although we will not “ship” puppies, we are happy to deliver puppies within a 1.5 hour radius of our home. If you are flying to pick up one of our puppies, we are happy to meet you at T.F. Green Airport in Providence, RI, or Bradley International Airport, in Hartford, CT, which are both within a 1.5 hour radius of our home. If you plan to fly with your puppy, be sure to carefully check the pet policies of the airline that you plan to use. Some airlines have stricter policies than others.
Do you vaccinate the puppies?
We give our puppies their first vaccination at approximately six weeks of age. You will be provided a medical record of this in your puppy packet. Your puppy will need a series of vaccines to fully protect him or her. Your veterinarian will advise you as to what vaccinations to give at what time.
Are the puppies wormed?
We treat our puppies with a de-wormer several times before they go to their new homes. You will be provided a medical record of this in your puppy packet.
Do you dock the tails or remove dew claws?
No we do not.
Are your puppies registered?
Our litters are registered with the ACC (American Cockapoo Club). Information about how to register your individual puppy with the ACC is included in your puppy packet.

What products should we purchase, if we don’t already own, before bringing home our puppy?
See suggestions under the "Products That We Find Helpful" page of our website.
What brand of food do you recommend that we feed our puppy?
We feed our dogs Fromm dog food (Puppy Gold Dry for the first year, followed by Small Breed Adult Gold Dry after first year). We recommend that you keep your puppy on this high quality food. If you decide to switch your puppy from Fromm, be sure to transition him/her very gradually to avoid digestive issues. Fromm has a frequent purchase program available through most, but not all, local retailers. We do not recommend buying this food through Amazon, since they often charge a lot more for it than local retailers do. https://frommfamily.com/products/dog/gold/dry/#puppy-gold
Is a grain free diet healthy for dogs?
We do not recommend a grain free diet, unless your veterinarian recommends it. Please read the following article to learn more on this topic.

What treats do you recommend for training our puppy?
It is important for the treats that you feed to your puppy to be as healthy as what you feed him/her for meals. Although the treats are small, the quantity can be substantial during the training period. Be sure to read product labels. Look for “all natural” and preferably made in the USA treats, since the standards are stricter in the USA than in other countries.
What books do we recommend?
Please read as much as you can before bringing home your puppy. It will make ALL the difference!
Books that we highly recommend are listed on the "Products That We Find Helpful" page of our website.
Do you have tips for caring for and socializing our new puppy?
How do you recommend that we house train our new puppy?
What dog toys do you recommend?
I recommend having a lot of toys for your new puppy to chew on. This will give your pup an alternative to chewing on your shoes, rugs, furniture etc. Beware of inexpensive, low quality dog toys. They do not last and can quickly become a choking hazard. Some dogs will tear through and/ or devour almost any toy, regardless of the quality, especially toys with stuffing in them. Be sure to keep a close eye on your puppy’s toys for wear and tear. Discard them when they are coming apart, to avoid a choking hazard and/ or intestinal obstruction.
Some toys that we have been most happy with are listed on the "Products That We Find Helpful" page of our website.
What do you suggest that we NOT use or do with our puppy?
What is OFA?
OFA is short for the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. This organization certifies testing on canine hips and elbows for specific genetic defects. Patella testing is for the knees, which is where most problems occur. We believe that it is important for Cockapoos, who are being bred, to have had their patellas examined by a vet and to be OFA "normal".
What is the Paw Print Genetics “Full Cockapoo Panel”?
We have Paw Prints Genetic Genetics perform the "Full Cockapoo Panel" tests on each of our breeding dogs to assure us that we are breeding responsibly. This panel includes tests for a list of diseases that tend to run in the Cockapoo and Poodle breeds. The list includes the follwing:
Degenerative Myelopathy, Exercise-Induced Collapse, Glycogen Storage Disease VII, PFK Deficiency, Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration, and Von Willebrand Disease I
What do the “generations” mean?
Cockapoos are a crossbreed between Cocker Spaniels and Poodles. When a Cocker Spaniel is mated to a Poodle to produce a Cockapoo, this is known as a first generation cross and is referred to as an F1. The “F” stands for the generation of the dog. Sometimes a Cockapoo is mated back to one of the parent breeds either the spaniel or poodle and this produces an F1b. The "b" denotes back-bred. When two Cockapoos are mated together they produce the next generation known as F2s. It is possible that a small number of the litter may have what is called the 'Grandad effect'. This is where a puppy will resemble one of the grandparents, either the Poodle or the Cocker Spaniel and is usually referred to as a throwback. When two F2's are bred together , their litter will be F3's and so on. The further the generations go, the more established the characteristics of the breed become.
Here is a simple guide:
Cocker Spaniel + Poodle = F1 Cockapoo
F1 Cockapoo + F1 Cockapoo = F2
F1 Cockapoo + Poodle = F1b
F1 Cockapoo + Cocker Spaniel = F1b
F1 Cockapoo + F2 Cockapoo = F2
F1 Cockapoo + F3 Cockapoo = F2
F1b Cockapoo + F1 Cockapoo = F2b
F2 Cockapoo + Poodle = F2b
F2 Cockapoo + Cocker Spaniel = F2b
F2 Cockapoo + F2 Cockapoo = F3
F2 Cockapoo + F3 Cockapoo = F3
F3 Cockapoo + F3 Cockapoo = F4
F4 Cockapoo + F4 Cockapoo = F5
and so on.................

What do you suggest that we NOT use or do with our puppy?
- Raw hide NEVER ever! It can cause choking and/or intestinal obstructions. There are plenty of other digestible options.
- Tennis balls. Most dogs will devour them!
- Choke collars (they can damage the esophagus). There are many other safer and more effective alternatives. Ask your trainer for ideas.
- Roughhousing and/ or tug of war games....which can encourage your puppy to become aggressive.
- DO NOT ALLOW YOUR PUPPY TO RUN AROUND ANYWHERE OTHER DOGS HAVE BEEN UNTIL ALL VACCINATIONS ARE FINISHED; This includes airports, dog parks, pet stores , or anywhere else your puppy can contract Parvo, other virus' and canine flu. Even though your puppy is vaccinated, your puppy is at high risk for contracting one of these life threatening diseases until fully vaccinated.
